In Memoriam

AUGUST 8, 1953 - AUGUST 17, 2025

Wanda Sue Sauerland

Wanda Sue Sauerland was born on August 8, 1953, and passed away on August 17, 2025, at the age of 72.

She dedicated her life to Jehovah on July 31, 1968, at the South Park Congregation in Houston, Texas, and was later associated with the Highland Congregation in Reno, Nevada.

She and her sister Sandy Landers spent many hours on the phone discussing what their hopes and desires were for the future when Jehovah brings a paradise to the earth.

She is survived by her husband, Eberhardt Sauerland; her youngest daughter, Laura Scavone; her loving grandchildren; and her sister, Sandy Landers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Sarah Perfater; her daughter, Angie Davis; her son, Brandon Burnett; and her sister, Debbie Simons.

Wanda was known for her unyielding spirit and determination, even in the face of many health challenges. She was deeply cherished and loved by her family. In her later years, Wanda worked diligently to serve Jehovah, fully recognizing Him as the true God.

Wanda was also known as a successful medical illustrator, creating a medical publication about the bones of the human body.

Wanda was also known for her humorous and thoughtful comments. On one occasion, while encouraging a family member to pray, the person asked, “Isn’t God too busy to listen to all the prayers?” With her characteristic wit, Wanda replied that if man can design computers with vast memory systems like RAM, how much more so could God, the Creator of all things, have the ability to hear every prayer. In this way, she lovingly reinforced the truth that God always hears us.

Wanda always looked forward to the time when human suffering would end, and she firmly shared that hope with others. Today, as we remember her, we also look ahead to the promised earthly paradise, where we can welcome back our loved ones in the resurrection.
